Chinese Immersion Program

Real World Chinese Language Program is a unique, effective program that incorporates classroom knowledge with real world.

Language is never academic. It is alive. The best way to learn Chinese is to use it in real life.

At Real World Chinese, we want your language education to be more than what you learn from a textbook. We want you to learn real Chinese, not just the words you are taught in a classroom every day. We want you to not only learn Chinese, but also to experience China. We combine the knowledge you have learned in a classroom with a phenomenal immersion program, consisting of after school tutoring, electives, and “study adventures”: interactive events and guided tours to some of the most popular destinations in the area.

The Chinese language program consists of 5 sections: Core Courses, Tutoring, Partnered Language Exchange, Electives, and Social Activities. These sections work together to create a complete, thorough education experience. By participating in the four extra components, you are transferring and reinforcing knowledge and skills learned from the core courses.

Core Courses

There are two types of programs available to learn Mandarin Chinese: standard and intensive. Classes are scheduled for the morning, five days a week. Each day you will have four classes. The Intensive Program will follow the above schedule, with an additional daily two hours of one-on-one tutoring, totaling six hours per day. You will be given a placement test on the first day of the program.

Tutoring

We have after school tutoring available, where we have hand-picked English speaking tutors to help you with your studies. You will be able to ask questions about the daily topics, have an extra lesson, or practice, practice, practice.

Partnered Language Exchange

You will have a Chinese native speaker as language exchange partner to practice Chinese with you, and in exchange, you help your partner with his or her English, and share a little bit of your culture. This is a great opportunity to make friends and encourages cultural and social exchange. You create your own schedule of where and when to meet.

Electives

Taught by qualified and experienced teachers or experts, the electives may focus on Chinese language development skills or learning more about Chinese culture, history and art. The electives may include Chinese writing, Chinese songs, Tai Chi, Chinese medicine, Chinese history, and more.

Social Activities

Offering activities for all age groups, RWC organizes many social, sporting and cultural activities, along with guided tours and excursions. The social activities include Dinner feasts to taste popular Chinese cuisines,  Shopping outings to the Silk Market, Karaoke nights, Movie showcase, Bar and club nights, and Boat trips at Hou Hai or Kunming Lake at the Summer Palace.
